About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To discover the world and myself, and where they meet!
ABOUT ME
Here are some things I love: traveling, dancing, writing, reading, singing, meditating, the ocean, redwoods, red wine, meaningful conversation, other trees that aren't redwoods, mountains (I've been trekking in the Himalayas and the Andes), making soup, sharing, gathering, hiking, backpacking, period pieces, community, yoga, eating, playing guitar, playing. What else? Born and bred in Cape Town, my family immigrated to LA when I was almost twelve; I've lived in the Bay Area most of my adult life, traveled to many many countries, published a bunch of journalism and a book, made an album. I care deeply about the world and have done a great deal of peace/global justice/environmental activism.
PHILOSOPHY
Hark, Rilke doth speak: "If you trust in Nature, in the small Things that hardly anyone sees and that can so suddenly become huge, immeasurable; if you have this love for what is humble and try very simply, as someone who serves, to win the confidence of what seems poor: then everything will become easier for you, more coherent and somehow more reconciling, not in your conscious mind perhaps, which stays behind, astonished, but in your innermost awareness, awakeness, and knowledge." I think most of the time I myself forget this, but that's what I'd like to do with my life.
