Hello CS!

My name is Marissa. I am a special education teacher in the United States. I specialize in elementary education and also work in International Education Development. It is my passion to work in education organizations around the world and support them in teacher training and development as well as developing educational programming for special education students. I have lived in Tanzania and Chile and worked in both Ethiopia and South Africa.

When I am not teaching I am very active and enjoy running, camping, hiking, cooking and biking! I have biked across Malawi and Rwanda and enjoy meeting other cyclists from around the world. I am currently training for the New York City Marathon (42 Km) and looking for other running enthusiasts. It is my dream to try to learn how to surf- I have not been very successful so far!

I love to CS. I have CS in many countries around the world. I enjoy meeting locals, getting advice on the local scene and cooking for my hosts.

As a woman traveling alone safety for my host and myself is a top concern. I do tend to live a more quiet life style, I do not drink alcohol. I prefer to be active during the day than the night, especially when I travel.

I often work abroad consulting with non-profits or educational organizations. When working I prefer to stay with locals rather than alone in a hotel so I can truly get to know the culture and people of the country I am visiting. I look forward to making new connections and meeting people who are also working towards improving the quality of life for others in their community.
