About Me
Hello!
Nice to meet you, I am Maritta, a Finnish girl. Grew up in Suomussalmi, a very small village in the Eastern border of Finland, next to Russia (but haven't never visited there, yet). But I have been also living up one of my dreams in the biggest city of the world, Tokyo - Actually couple of times for shorter and longer periods of time! However, I have now moved back to Finland and enjoying my time fullest in Tampere: Let's meet here or somewhere else when I'm travelling around the world!
Overall, I think I am a rather active person who is easy to get along with, chatty (even if I may seem shy at first) and who likes to make new friends all over the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am pretty new to Couchsurfing but not so fresh to traveling. I love to travel, see new places, try out new dishes and drinks and meet the locals. I enjoy conversations about any topic and I am keen to hear your stories! I am taking up Couchsurfing now because I am mostly travelling on my own (or together with my boyfriend~), travelling on budget is not too easy and of course, because the locals know the best - They can show the most interesting places (not only the ones written about in guide books) and sure, they also have the cultural understanding and know the customs.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen, watch and read pretty much anything given and love take up the recommendations! So please recommend me something you like! :)
When I was younger used to read/watch a lot of fantasy and sci-fi books/movies. (I still have a great soft spot for them!) Now I read/watch more contemporary "realistic" works or works that twist the borders of reality somehow. I like works that make me think! As for my favourite music, I have a moment for different kind of music genres, some songs also remind me certain people, periods of time or places - When I do not actually travel, I think music, movies and books take me to the different places and worlds through imagination.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed to Mt Fuji in the summer 2012! o/
I have lived an academic year in Japan (2012.09~2013.08) and actually did it again (2017.03~2018.02)! \o
I travelled around Tohoku Region and visited all its prefectures (2017.08.01~11) \o/
Teach, Learn, Share
Once I graduate my studies I will probably become a Finnish language teacher or a librarian or a publicist, I don't actually know - I'm open to many options! But if you'd like to learn some Finnish, please let me know~ I can also share stories about my country! I am always eager to learn myself, so please teach me something about your language/dialect and culture too!
