Hi everybody!
I'm Maria, or... better known as Maritxu.
I live in a "small" town by the coast of the beautiful Basque Country, which name is Santurtzi. It's located pretty near of Bilbao.

About my experience abroad, I've visited some countries close to mine, such as Portugal, France, Italy, UK and Germany. When I finished my degree, me and my classmates went to visit Mexico, it was awesome!

Also, I've spent some time living abroad. When I was 15, I spent 1 month in Ireland; and in my last year of degree, I spent 4 months living in Greece, actually I was living in Sparti!! AU-AU!!

This precios year I've been living in Australia, and nowadays, I'm doing my big trip, from Cairns to Perth across the East coast and South coast.

Well, about me... I like to spent time playing the guitar (at least trying), painting, reading, listening to music, swimming... I love hiking and being in contact with the nature. So I'm open to practice any kind of activity related with the nature. I think It's important to say that I really like travelling to another places, areas and countries. But which I like the most about travelling, it's to meet new people from all over the world.
Meeting new people, new cultures, musics, arts, ways of thinking... That's what makes me feel rich in my inside. I love to fullfill my soul by my & other people's experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that the first reasons why am I in this network, it's because I think it's the best way to travel and meet people from all over the world, to share experiences and to help each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

About music, I'm quite open minded. But I really like 80's-90's Rock, Basque Punk-Rock, Reggae, Indie and even House, Dance and Techno. Actually I can enjoy any kind of music... instead of Reggaeton sometimes hehehe.

About movies, I can't choose one movie, because each one made me feel something special in the day I watched them, but if I had to choose a pair of movies... I'll choose Moonrise Kingdoom by Wes Anderson because it's sweetness, and Happiness by Todd Solondz because it's beautiful how he describes the human misery in that perfect way...

And finally... About books... I'll say that I really like Eduardo Galeano.
