About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world, meet amazing people, and become the best version of myself.

ABOUT ME

I just graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain for the entirety of my third year. I was lucky enough to travel all over Spain and to other various locations in Western Europe, and it was the best year of life. I stayed in various hostels, friends' homes and couchsurfed, and couchsurfing was definitely one of the more exciting choices. I encourage everyone to couchsurf as much as possible and continue to travel and truly get to know the places they visit.

I am an energetic, happy and outgoing person who honestly loves to meet new people and have adventures. :) I used to say that I feared getting old, but my Communication and Aging class taught me that it is not old age that I fear, but rather a lackluster take on life. I know plenty of young people who have let the flame inside them burn out already, and I am determined to be like my parents and young-spirited for the rest of my life.

PHILOSOPHY

Some of my favorite quotes that I live by:

-"When I was 5 years old, my mom told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down "happy." They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life." -John Lennon

-"Life is short, Break the Rules. Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably and never regret anything that makes you smile.”
― Mark Twain

-"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-yet, the not-quite, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your roads and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours." -Ayn Rand

-"Travel is the only thing that makes you richer."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few travelers, and I have couchsurfed in several cities in France. It is a great way to meet amazing people from all over the world and have unique experiences with locals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a guy I met on a trip to Morocco from Alaska on my couch, spent the night at a local's house in Sevilla after finding out that my bus wasn't set to leave until the next day, and stayed at two hosts' homes in Marseilles and then Nice. Each experience has been unique, and I am so grateful that I have been able to meet such amazing people who truly impact my experiences. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies- Forrest Gump, Titanic, all of the Disney classics, Never Been Kissed, Flipped...

Music-Ed Sheeran, Blink-182, Lifehouse, Switchfoot, Ludovico Einaudi, Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls...

Books- I have too many favorites that it is hard to think of a short and sweet list. Reading is one of my favorite activities that I wish I could do more often, because it expands your mind and allows you to escape for a little while. It is another form of travel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Walked on a glacier at sunset in Canada
-Road tripped across the U.S.
-Drank from the fountain of youth
-Skinny dipped in Barcelona under a full moon
-Been inspired by massive falling leaves in Segovia
-Accidentally walked on top of a dome in Berlin
-Jumped off of waterfalls in Hawaii

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that we are the result of the people we choose to surround ourselves with and our experiences. Choose your friends wisely and don't beat yourself up when you make mistakes. I have always been hard on myself and have learned that it is unhealthy. My kindergarten teacher asked my parents why I was so stressed out. It had nothing to do with putting too much pressure on me and everything to do with wanting to be perfect and make everyone happy. I have learned that it is literally impossible to make EVERYONE happy without changing your personality for each person. That's exhausting and not worth it. Be the best version of yourself and don't take it so personally if the whole world doesn't want to be your best friend. I have also learned that people are easily jealous and can be downright awful, but I have also been repeatedly surprised by how genuinely kind people can be. It is also important to give people a real chance before making a judgment.

Traveling is key to sparking the imagination, learning about other cultures, and above all, getting to know yourself.
