Hi, I’m Mariyah!
I’m originally from Indonesia and have been a Couchsurfing member since 2019 (though I lost my old account long story!). I’m passionate about meeting people from different cultures not because I’m a “bule hunter” (please no!), but because I’m working on becoming more confident in speaking English and love exchanging stories with people from around the world.

I love exploring nature and urban spaces whether it’s hopping from island to island in Indonesia or wandering around old city corners. Traveling keeps me inspired and grounded.

I’m a bit picky when it comes to building new connections, especially here, due to some bad past experiences. But if you’re kind, open-minded, and genuinely interested in sharing stories, I’m always happy to meet and connect.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite travel experiences was visiting Karimunjawa Islands I’ve been there twice and still can’t get enough. The locals are incredibly warm and kind, the ocean is stunningly clear, and there are so many untouched beaches that feel like hidden gems. Funny enough, I actually learned how to swim there completely by accident! It was spontaneous, a little scary, but ended up being one of my most memorable moments.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you’re ever in Bandung, I’d love to be your local friend! I can show you some amazing spots both well known and hidden gems that most tourists don’t get to see. I’m also a big foodie, so I know all the good places to eat, from street food to cozy cafes. I enjoy making people feel welcome and making their trip memorable with local tips and good conversations.
