Overview
About Me
I'm a recent geology graduate with a love for traveling the world. I love hiking, camping, and generally spending as much time outdoors as I can. I want to set foot on every continent before I turn 25, and I'm well on my way. I'm an easy-going, low-maintenance, spontaneous traveler who just wants every moment to be an adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because one of my very good friends hosts couchsurfers regularly and it seems like exactly how I want to travel. I want to experience real life in the places I go and I want to meet authentic people who see the world like I do. I've only heard of couchsurfing recently, and I already know it's how I want to travel.
Interests
No point in disguising it: I'm a huge nerd. I'm a geologist, and so I love rocks and the Earth and everything that goes along with that. I'm also a bit of a musician, interested in everything from classical to metal. I love books, movies, TV, and video games, especially anything fantasy and sci-fi (so much so that I have a tattoo in Elvish, so I guess that's something). And, obviously, I love traveling, but I suppose that's a given.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I find stuff to love in literally any genre across time, which makes this one tough. My favorite classical composers are Bach, Chopin, and Mahler. My jazz loves are Miles Davis and Oscar Peterson. More modern faves include Thrice, Tesseract, Of Monsters and Men, Ben Howard... There are so many.
Movies: Lord of the Rings, Watchmen, Kingdom of Heaven, Cloud Atlas, and The Incredibles, to name a few.
Books: Lord of the Rings/The Silmarillion, Harry Potter, The Malazan Book of the Fallen, A Song of Ice and Fire.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got very sick in Peru, and considered giving up and going home early, but I pushed through and managed to hike a 4-day trek through the Andes and over a mountain pass at 4750m elevation. It was probably the proudest I've ever been of myself.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching. I'm on course to start my masters in Geology next year with the aim of eventually being a professor so that I can share my love of the earth with anyone willing to learn. I also teach piano part-time, and get great joy out of imparting a love of music in kids. I'm insatiably curious about everything, and I love learning as much as I love teaching.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories and experiences. I can bring a new way of looking at the world. I can share my ideas, my talents, and my enthusiasm for seeing new and exciting things. And I can share literally anything you could ever want to know about rocks. You know. If you're into that kind of thing.
Also I can cook. And clean. And will definitely do so.
