About Me

I grew up in the east part of The Netherlands and lived in Belfast (Northern Ireland) for about 2,5 years to work. I quit that job and in 2017 and I started travelling, after checking out South East Asia for just over a month I started my 1 year in Australia. On the way back I did some more of South East Asia and now I am back in Europe.

After a few months of traveling in north and eastern Europe I moved to Lisbon. I was working and living there for 9 months. Start of 2019 I quit that job and after traveling, trying to work in Finland(fun story ask about it.) I decided to move to Malta in August 2019. I decided to go back to the Netherlands in december 2020 after nearly 7 years abroad. Riding out the pandemic there. Now in 2022 I quit my job in the Netherlands to see more of Europe. Hopefully soon outside again as well.

Even though my hometown is one of the best parts of the world to live I always had the feeling I wanted more. See more, experience more. That's why I decided to work abroad as that's when you really experience other cultures and living styles. I try to exchange periods of working with periods of pure travelling in my 20's.

I have been diagnosed with coeliac when I was 4 years old so all I know is my Gluten - Free diet. So if you offer me any food and I reject don't feel too bad about it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When talking to some friends about travelling some of them suggested this website and had great experience with it meeting people in cities they didn't know anybody.

While staying here in Belfast all the family and friends wanted to visit me at least once. I loved showing them around here and they loved being here, so they talked to friends and some of them picked up on it. So I have showed around people I barely knew which was a blast. Couchsurfing only made sense as a next step and it has been great so far.

Interests

I love cycling especially trough the nature.
Football and sports and general. Followed my team (FC Twente) throughout Europe for years
Gaming and gaming-conventions.
A Combination of sports and gaming (e-sport)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into all kind of music, put on any radio station and I'm happy. I will literally go to any kind of club or music event.

I enjoy a good tv-show more then a movie as there is more to see. A small list of TV-Shows I have finished or still follow:
Game of Thrones , Breaking Bad, Chuck, Homeland, Orange is the new Black, Suits, House of Cards and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Emigrate to the UK and arranged all that is required within 24 hours. Got the job and was on the plane the next day to leave it all behind. I was still employed and no idea I would be moving anywhere a week before.

Teach, Learn, Share

The difference between The Netherlands and Holland, both in Culture and mentality.

How and where to find interesting start up jobs throughout Europe.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Beside the stories I can take the initiative and find a nice place to eat(Gluten - free in my case) in your own city you probably never been to before. The people I travelled with before tell me I have a good nose for great restaurants.

I also love to cook something, my non spicy chilli con carne is my speciality.
