About Me

I like to live in the moment and enjoy my work in an engineering lab but in truth its mainly to provide financial support for my daughters as well as my travel habit...lol, I also like to stay active hiking, kayaking, caving, and camping... and enjoy reading and yoga to help keep a fit mind and body and manage enough home chores that the old house doesn't fall down around my ears while greatly enjoying whatever maximum leisure time I can fit in...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been doing backpacking and hostels for years and really love the sense of sharing and community. CouchSurfing seems to be such a natural, warm and welcoming way to travel and meet others while sharing wonderful moments in our journey through life. I feel it's like sustainable culture applied to accommodation and community for and by fellow travelers :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

In books my favorite authors are Nelson DeMill, Ray Bradbury, Louise Cooper, and Susan Forward to only name a few. On screen of course action and intrigue are great but, much to the amusement of at least a couple close friends, I really love romantic comedies with Love Actually, and Must Love Dogs being two of many at top of my list. There are so many types of music I enjoy it's difficult to describe my taste here as anything but eclectic. My favorite band is Jubilee Riots (formerly Enter The Haggis), a northern roots rock group from Toronto, in part because they're personal friends, not to mention great guys and amazing musicians. In food I like a variety as well but can say I find Russian, Ukrainian, and Eastern European highly appealing with Japanese and Thai close behind... I can also say I am not a sports junkie and my friends joke that my worst torture would be to tie me down and force me to watch American football or Nascar!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

skydiving on the set of "Lord of the Rings"all be it a few years before the cameras were rolling ;-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm thankful to have a bright mind and gifted hands especially in mechanical and technical things but also proud to have a somewhat creative side as well... This especially comes out whether I'm solving a scientific problem or planning a travel adventure. My last trip to Europe included auto, bus, rail, and air in that order and that was all before I departed the US...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Considerate, calm, and unobtrusive guest willing to assist in any home chores or other productive manner in which to show my appreciation...

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Germany, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Russian Federation, Thailand, Ukraine
