About Me

After the enforced COVID hiatus, I am back! I have lived in Korea over twenty years. Spent my teens and twenties living and working around the world: elephant keeper, chef, pit master, travel writer, teacher, cook.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Long before couch surfing had even been named, from Burkina Faso to Bhutan, I was a beneficiary of this and the greatest memories I have of many countries are not the places visited but the people and little kindnesses shown to me. Now I am paying it forward. I don't just offer a place to sleep but a home to rest, recover, recuperate and, hopefully, leave Korea with positive thoughts and fond memories. We have heaps of repeat CSers and recommendations from previous CSers to future CSers and this is all part of the beauty and charm of this.

Interests

Cooking and BBQ. I still love to travel but my cafe is my golden cage now. May have had a passing interest in LEGO. Shhhh, don't tell anyone!

Music, Movies, and Books

If it sounds good, it sounds good. Currently being emo with RAYE.
I'm an avid cinemaphile. Erm,... Zombies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snuck into Tibet and visited, on foot, the five holiest locations.

Survived a murder attempt.

My great CS friendships.

So,.......that technically makes more than one thing. Maths was never my strong point.

Teach, Learn, Share

People to do, things to see!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My home, local knowledge, my awesome humour and other awesome CSers sharing my home, but mostly a refuge from this tough, old world. To be perfectly honest, Korea can be insanely expensive but there are a lot of things to appreciate here. If we can cut your main cost of visiting here, that leaves more cash for BBQ and soju. Win win!
I mostly can't be there for you since I am running my own cafe and but I will leave you well prepared for your Korean adventure, and there are generally other CSers around to go day tripping with or share information. (Actually, this is the most amazing part for us, so there is rarely a day without at least one CSer.)
Geographically, my home is nowhere near the heart of the city, but you will come to appreciate how convenient and faster it is to travel from here home to all of the major sites than if you were in central Seoul. Sounds crazy but it is true.
DON'T GO TO GANGNAM or NAMI ISLAND!
