About Me

I'm U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer serving as an English teacher in Armenia. I grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and have lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Austin, Texas.

When I've got the time and the money I love hitting the road and seeing and experiencing new places and meeting new people. I truly believe that everywhere and everyone is worth getting to know and has something to teach if you're just receptive to it. I'm a relaxed guy who likes exploring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a people person and love meeting and speaking with everyone. Couchsurfing seems to me to be a good way of getting a more "authentic" (whatever that actually means) experience when visiting a new place. To meet locals, get their recommendations, see and learn how they live. All things that can be easily missed when you go the hotel or hostel route.

Music, Movies, and Books

Loud guitars will always have a special place in my heart. I don't have much of a stomach for EDM or pop-country but other than that like most genres at least a little.

I love all kinds of movies. Goofy comedies, dense dramas, weird 70s stuff, cheesy horror, action, martial arts, sci-fi, westerns. I dig it all.

Reading is good. It makes you smart. I prefer memoirs, sci-fi, leftist theory, detective novels, and lots more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking over a waterfall. The run up to the fall was deceiving calm and shallow, almost like just paddling on flat water... except I could hear the rushing of the water going down a three meter drop. It almost tricks me, but then I got to the edge of the waterfall and realize it's too late to bail and I was committed to the thing. There was nothing to do but dig in, push forward, and hope for the best. It was more than 10 years ago and is still one of the most thrilling things I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning about languages and how to speak them, even just something as "hello," "thanks," or "cheers!"

I also really like to cook for people and am always down to share a beer.

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands
