À propos de moi

Travelling the world with a handful of optimism and flagons of determination. Life on the road is somewhat insane, mysterious, resplendent, a destination ever receding. I've been travelling now for over nine months. Initially over more western countries like Portugal, Spain, France. Then I decided there was something too familiar, too, well western. So I flew to Turkey which burst open like a Trojan horse on fire. The hospitality, the warmth, the way people interacted, it was a whole new breath of air into my worn out lungs. Hitch hiking and meeting so many people from teachers, police officers, government workers, farmers. It instilled me a greater desire to travel which western Europe nearly beat out of me. So now my plan is to move around towards Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, a little stint in Greece (while acting like Ulysses) then perhaps the Trans Siberian Express or South America. Who knows, the wind tosses plans over the balustrade like yesterdays stale bread. Better sometimes to let the path decide and just carry on forward.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

With a friend I first tried Couch Surfing in Antalya and Fethiye. The experience was nothing sort of amazing. Meeting wonderful people, exchanging knowledge and stories, looking through other people's book collections (A personal favourite of mine), some host's even became friends who we often see when we have the chance. So I decided to build my own profile, construct a repertoire and utilize it myself.

Centres d'intérêt

Everything into everything, but not everything and not all the time.
I have such an extensive list of personal interests that I would rather leave an aura of mystery about my person since I think something enigmatic is more interesting.
Let's add the mystery back into life people!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

It's an ever changing, constantly fluctuating list so it's hard to pin it down into a corner at point blank range. But at the moment my ears are vibrating to the sounds of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. My brain is coasting through the veering, chaotic pages of Ulysses by James Joyce and my eyes, well my eyes have just watched my all time favourite film (For the moment) Synecdoche New York and a French film called Un Prophet.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Paragliding from a gigantic mountain after being driven up precarious roads by a group of constantly smoking, techno loving professionals. Honestly the drive up the mountain made me more nervous than actually being in mid air and spinning wildly since the para-glider wanted to showcase his stunt skills.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I wish to learn anything and everything. The secrets of the road, the culture of the area, methods of madness, methods of travel. Teach me about your home because I adore getting a fully fledged view of the place I am travelling in from local perspectives instead of just traipsing through and dipping into hostels.
Even if it's just a coffee and a chat the perspective you can bring to the place where we stand is always worth it.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

An endless cacophony of stories from around the world. Strange, funny, scary, just plain ridiculous, I have quite a few. I didn't think I did until I started opening my mouth to travel companions in Fethiye but it seems I do. Don't worry though, I'm not someone who goes on and on about themselves. I'm concious of my surroundings as well. Reciprocity and conscientious it keeps people happy.
I can cook as well. I like to call my skills in the kitchen 'panic cooking'. I don't make a mess, but I throw things together and see what happens. I have made Sushi a few times and pride myself on making a well spiced stir fry.
