Overview
About Me
Hello, we're Mark and Ju, a British couple in our early 30s. We have been together for over 7 years and are currently travelling the world together and hoping to see some amazing places, meet awesome people and experience their cultures along the way.
We love the ocean and surfing it, nature and exploring it and sharing great food and maybe a rum with interesting people.
We don't smoke, love chatting and telling stories and both laugh easily. We think it's amazing people open their homes to other people travelling through and look forward to meeting you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are travelling on a budget and some of our best experiences so far have been whilst staying with local people through Homestays. It's a great way to get under the skin of a place and to meet new people in the process. We aren't massive fans of hostel hopping and much prefer meeting local people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Mark:
MUSIC - I love a dance so any music you can jump around to is great! Other favourites include Skate rock/Brit pop that take me back to my younger days, Jack Johnson for that post surf vibe and anything by Queen!
FILMS - Umm off top of my head, Pursuit of Happiness made me blub and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is beautiful and visually stunning
BOOKS - "Yes Man" was a simple read but with a great positive message. I've read the traveller classic "Shantaram" whilst on the road and that was awesome.
Ju:
BOOKS - Three Cups of Tea, The Blindness, The 100 hundred year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared, Surfing Mama.
FILMS- I love Into the Wild, Shawshank Redemption and recently watch an awesome film called "North of the Sun", I really recommend about a surfing pair who built a house out of driftwood and materials washed up on a remote beach in which they lived for 9 months.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Mark: definitely strapping on a backpack and travelling the world oh and winning the UK Rookie wakeboarding title for 2014 (Ju wrote this because Mark was too modest to!!)
Ju: Teaching English and Conservation to children in rural Cambodia, although they taught me so much more. (Put up with Mark for 7 years so far! - Mark wrote this)
Teach, Learn, Share
We are both TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualified to Distinction level.
Travelling through Central America, we have been practising and Spanish and enjoyed four weeks of four-hour-a-day lessons in Guatemala and would welcome opportunities to practise!
Ju used to teach Pilates back in the UK.
We both love walking and appreciating nature. Ju studied butterflies in the UK Portugal and in Nicaragua.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Mark can cook wholesome food including vegetarian dishes, and loved to cook up big pots of delicious stews and curries to share with friends at home.
Ju can certainly tell a story. Since travelling friends we have volunteered with have requested more stories over dinners and friends at home have said they miss the long lengthy chats!
In essence we both love to chat and share story with open people.
