I'm an American student at the University of Central Missouri (Go Mules). I'm originally from Kansas City, MO and I just completed a year abroad in Plymouth, England. My major is Secondary Education in Social Studies and my minor is Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Before starting my collegiate studies in January of 2013, I served nine years in the United States Marine Corps.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hate hotels, as I believe they are being paid to be nice and hospitable. I don't want others to experience that as well. I love to meet and talk to others, especially from another culture/country, so I had to join and take advantage of lifelong friendships and networks.

Interests

I love to run. Fitness is very important to me and I love to cook. Maybe you could show me something new to make? I will also return the favor! I'm also an avid coin collector. Most of my collection are American coinage from late 19th century and early 20th century, but I also bought some English coins from the Early Modern Period! My goal is to find an old Roman coin! I also collect trivia. Nothing is more exciting for me than quizzes of useless knowledge. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm flexible when it comes to music. I listen to it all. Same with movies. I love to read, but I only read non-fiction. Basically, historical events, bios, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When in Plymouth, I visited the site where the Mayflower set off. I had the distinctive pleasure of visiting 16 countries and 27 cities while in Europe. Seeing the Eiffel was eye-opening. Pictures will be up soon. I promise.

Despite the fact that I can't host (small dorm space), I am available to show you around Kansas City. There is a lot in KC! If you love art, the Nelson-Atkins museum is a must. If a sports fan, the Royals, Chiefs, and Sporting KC will make you cheer your heart out. If you possess an itch to shop, the Plaza and Crown Center will have "shop 'till you drop." KC is known as the "City of Fountains." We claim the second most public water spouts in the world — behind Rome. If you leave KC happy, that's my goal.
