About Me

I am Mark. A simple man with remarkably complex taste when it comes to Doritos. Nacho and Cool Ranch do nothing for me. Whip out the Spicy Sweet Chili and now we're talking.

Otherwise, I recently graduated from the University of Georgia, and bartended in downtown Athens through college. My interests lie in film, comedy and satire. I've also been doing stand up comedy since April of 2015, so when this April hits I'm thinking about going pro.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My beautiful girlfriend and I dreamed up an awesome excursion to Australia for Jan/Feb 2016 with the help of my friend down there, who will accommodate us for several nights before leaving on a trip of his own. So, this is the perfect time to join couch surfing! My brother swears by it, so now I'm interested in being a part of the originality that is CS.

Interests

I'm interested in having experiences that validate or create an opportunity to learn something exciting and/or new. That could be cozily reading a good book, or going on a sweaty hike with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

As for now, I'm obsessed with this fantasy book series by Patrick Rothfuss, the king killer chronicles. Darn good writing.

Who doesn't love Tarantino?

The latest beats I'm spinning are Tame Impala, Deerhunter, Bahamas, then the list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Here in Athens Georgia we have the Georgia Theater, which is a somewhat legendary place for bands who come through. It has staged anyone from Greg Allman to Wacka Flaka. I consider myself a musician when I can get alway with it, so when one of my friends asked if I wanted to open a show there with him... So much yes was involved. We rehearsed as an acoustic guitar duo, (with me on piano on one song) and switched who sang melody and harmony with each of the covers we played. Suffice it to say the experience was surreal, and legendary for me. Having people sing along was stunning, and if nothing else assured me it was worth it, having some of the Theater's staff compliment the set afterwards iced the cake that was so good I hope I can have seconds one day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn more about the world and maybe I can teach a thing or two by accident along the way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Manners. First and foremost I was raised by parents who didn't spare the rod (or rather switch, which stung like a thousand bees who have killer yo' mamma jokes). I'm never above helping with any chores while I'm there. And, I'm a package deal with my beautiful and equally well mannered Girlfriend Heather. In any department where my skills may be lacking, she is sure to make up for it.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands
