About Me

I am a 55-year-old law professor who loves to learn about new places and people. I have three children and they all love to travel. My children and I began taking long trips through the U.S. about 15 years ago. I am fascinated to learn more about the local history and culture of places that are new to me.

I am an active person. I enjoy running, cycling and camping. I also love to read and see good movies. I am very easy going and like simple things. Spending time with a friend or two talking over a beer or coffee is what I like. Or becoming captivated by a good novel.

I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I teach law at Southern University Law Center. In late May, I am moving to Washington, DC soon to work for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a trademark judge. I have done many things in my life and enjoy sharing experiences with others. I was on a submarine in the U.S. Navy, 1985-90, went to Duke Law School, have worked as a lawyer in law firms and for companies. I have been a law professor for 15 years. I look forward to meeting you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to meet new friends and learn about new places. I travel alone and it is difficult to meet new people when traveling. My oldest daughter told me about couch surfing. It sounded perfect to me, because all I want is to meet new people in the places I visit. I can look at a book or magazine to see what a place looks like. I can read about a place´s history. But that is not the same as having a friend who can share person stories about their home.

I grew up on a rice farm in south Louisiana and have worked on a nuclear submarine. I have testified before the U.S. Congress and have spoken about law before large groups of attorneys. My own life is full of many different stories and know everyone else has just as many stories to share. That is what I am on Couchsurfing - to hear and share the stories of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock music, folk music. I like comedy and mystery movies. I enjoy many types of books, but particularly enjoy historical books and biographies on interesting people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been under the Arctic ice in a submarine off the coast of northern Norway during the Cold War.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a degree in Electrical Engineering and a Law Degree. I have taught law for many years and enjoy talking to others about the U.S. legal system. My main expertise is in Intellectual Property law and business law.

I grew up in a rural community and have lived in large U.S. cities. I founded and directed a legal clinic for small businesses. I enjoy sharing these experiences with others.
