About Me
Hey!
I am a British filmmaker currently living and working in Toronto, Canada.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Two reasons: When I travel, I love to immerse myself in the culture of the place I am visiting, see what makes the locals tick! Rather than spending my time being caught in the tourist traps, I prefer to seek out the authentic experiences and live life as a local would: eat in the local restaurants, drink in the local bars. When in Rome...! It allows for a much more rounded and often memorable travel experience, but requires a local connect to point you in the right direction!
Secondly (and honestly), for financial reasons: I am an aspiring film director with big ambitions but not yet much to show for them. As a "starving artist", I work numerous jobs to fund not just my films but my travel and anything that can be done to help take the edge off financially is a huge help and massively appreciated.
But generally speaking, I'm passionate about my home city of Leeds and would revel in the opportunity to share it with people from around the world. I imagine the same is true of you and I hope to be able to experience a tiny slice of that world.
Interests
I love to travel. I have been fortunate enough to travel around South America, South East Asia, Europe and am now experiencing life in North America. I like to experience different cultures and different peoples.
I am a massive movie buff, having grown up watching films and now trying to make some of my own!
I also love to dance (!) Anything from swing to techno, I love music and I love to dance to it!

Music, Movies, and Books
My two favourite movies are Back to the Future and Pulp Fiction - both classics in their own right! I am huge fan of 80's movies: The Goonies, Flight of the Navigator, Ferris Bueller's Day Off - childhood favourites and outright classics!
My current go-to genre of music is dance music, but I arrived here via numerous other genres along the way. I love sixties music, no doubt the influence of my parents: from The Beatles, Stones and Johnny Cash, right through soul and mowtown: Jackie Wilson, The Supremes and Sam Cooke. A bit of 70's and 80's classic rock always goes down well: Bruce Springsteen, Billy Idol and AC/DC. More recently, I love listening to stuff like Daft Punk, Chemical Brother and Soulwax. In short, if it's "good", I like it!
I don't read anywhere near as much as I would like to (or I should!) I am currently reading For Whom The Bell Tolls by Hemingway, which is actually proving a really great way back into reading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have just signed up for a marathon in 5 weeks time...! If I succeed to complete the race without collapsing, that will be truly amazing!
