About Me

CURRENT MISSION

middle east, summer 2010 - explore, meeting people

ABOUT ME

September 2014: free again, getting ready to get back out into the world...

summer 2013: USA tour, woop!

august 2010:

Just arrived in Iran (now alone, without Helena), look forward to exploring this fascinating country,

Update 2010:

In second year at university in Bristol and have chance to go away again - hopefully this summer around the middle east.

Because I'm travelling with Helena this summer, here is a note from her!

I'm Helena, I'm currently studying medicine in Bristol in the UK. I enjoy meeting new and interesting people, experiencing and understanding new cultures and broadening my horizons. I eventually want to travel as a working doctor. My family are Croatian and I am lucky enough to speak Croatian! Generally I think I am optimistic, friendly and easy going - especially when I am travelling!

2009: Now in Bristol, anyone fancy visiting?!

2008:
I travelled in India since April, and am returning to the UK overland through Europe. Enjoyed two months in Mumbai, teaching English with Pratham, an NGO in Mumbai, and learning about local people, customs, food, and trying to learn some Hindi, before continuing round India and up to Nepal, and then heading back to Eastern Europe. Will be starting University at Bristol, UK, when I get home in September.

PHILOSOPHY

'In every man there is something wherein I may learn of him; and in that I am his pupil' - Emerson

Try to have an open mind, listen to people and appreciate differences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My family has hosted young people from countries as diverse as France, Germany, Spain, Moldolva, Romania, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand and Tanzania, as I have grown up, and I am hoping to find people to stay with in the countries I visit so that I can learn more about the real aspect of the countries I visit, as opposed to the regular insides of hotel rooms.

When I return to England in September, I will be at University in Bristol, UK, so will not have a 'couch' as such, but it would be great if any one wanted to come and stay, and I can show them the best of my own country too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First experience was in Mumbai India, and worked out great - since then I have couchsurfed in various places on my way across Europe, which has allowed me a fantastic insight into each country which would have been very hard to experience otherwise. Hoping I'll get the chance to host some people who have hosted me, doesn't seem like many people want to visit Bristol though?!

Interests

I try to involve my self in any opportunities possible, but at home I enjoy rugby, orienteering, swimming and triathlon; playing and listening to music; languages and reading; meeting people to learn new skills, experience new cultures and broaden my perspective of the world.
