ABOUT ME

We are happy outgoing people who have been lucky enough to travel (get engaged in the process) the world and have had an amazing time. We are now back home in Scotland, with our previous job as Outdoor Instructors, Coaches and White Water Raft guides, and love the job we do. We have been fortunate enough to get to experience working in New Zealand whilst traveling, and have had an stunning time in South America, OZ and Asia!

And thus after our wonderful trip we are back in beautiful Perthshire, Scotland, and we would like to welcome people to come and stay at our home for a few days in Aberfeldy.

We work in the Outdoor industry and often work 12 hour days so as much as we would love to show you around sometimes we would simply be too busy to make this possible. However if we can host you we would love to share our passion of the outdoors with you, and share our experiences from traveling with other people from around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Caroline:

I believe that it is not the things you do, but the things you don't do that you regret. I have no regrets. I like to grab life with both hands and squeeze everything I can out of it.

Mark:

I believe in smiling at everyone. In enjoying life as much as possible. Take each day as it comes and be grateful for as many moments as you can. I love positive energy and a good attitude makes such a great difference!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are so excited to be part of the Couch surfing community, and are thrilled to learn that there is such a body of people in the world that share such a great ethos and vibe. We have already hosted some CSers during our stay in Nelson, which was a great experience! And we look forward meeting and hosting more amazing people in Abefeldy now we have a place to share.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We had our first couple of Couch Surfing experiences whilst staying in Australia. We had really positive experiences and are keen to keep on meeting people through this fantastic community!

Since then we have been fortunate enough to stay with some other amazing people through surfing and we have also had the pleasure of hosting a couple of people during our time in Nelson - which is just as much fun as surfing!

We cannot wait to host people while showing them what Aberfeldy has to offer now we are home in Scotland.

Interesses

Everything and anything! There is so much to learn and be amazed by, we love a good rambling chat! We also love to be outdoors, whether that is shooting arrows or taking a stroll out in the beautiful countryside. We love the water and have been rafting and Kayaking on white water for over two years, we are very lucky as this is part of our job!

Archery is another big passion, we both have our own bows, but unfortunately were a bit too big to bring on our travels! Plus going through customs take much longer!

As children we both learned Martial Arts, and we are very interested in getting back into the sport for fitness and self defense.

We are big readers and prefer a book to TV. Although curling up in front of film on a cold night can be very satisfyingly, and of course, we have the odd "guilty pleasures" TV shows, that we like to watch occasionally!

V for Vendetta, Gattaca, Ace Ventura, Interview with a Vampire, the Mask, the Blindside, Iron Man! And most recently Rise of the Planet of the Apes. We have a very eclectic taste in films!

We like all sorts of music, but here is just a sample.
Caroline: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Foo Fighters, U2, 80'S music, Plan B, 90'S Dance.

Mark: More rock and guitar,less Katy Perry and Gaga! But that why ear plugs were invented hey?!

We both love books. Especially ones that take you places. Here are just a few of the most recent reads.

Three Cups of Tea, Angela's Ashes, Gone with the Wind, the Pillars of Time, Harry Potter series, Mao's last Dancer and the Eragon series - (not the film!)

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

The smile on my girlfriends face when she first rolled her Kayak successfully!

Guiding a raft down the absolutely stunning Futaleufu river in Chile for a couple of sections. Will never forget how beautiful that day was. Photos do not do it justice!

Caroline traveled to Oz in 2003, and was lucky enough to visit Uluru on that trip and felt awed and privileged to have been there. We were lucky enough to go back together this year, and that made it even more special.

The amazing energy and beauty of Iguazu falls in Argentina was probably the most stunning sight we have both seen.

Walking the Inka trail to see the majestic Macchu Picchu nestled amongst the clouds and mountains of Peru was incredible.

Caroline says:
- Marks closest friends says he teaches you patience because of how long he takes to get ready to go out! But Mark has endless patience and is an excellent coach. He taught me how to Kayak when I was scared of boats, and he taught my Mum basic computer skills, when she didn't have a clue - patience came in handy both times!

Mark says: Caroline is brilliant with people, she can help people achieve things that they would have never have thought possible. This is because she understands exactly what they are experiencing, as at one point she was there herself, believe it or not. She is incredibly brave, and pushes herself to enjoy life to the fullest. This is what I believe she will be able to share with anyone she meets, and inspire others with her passion. Plus she has funny embarrassing stories that are always good for a laugh over!
