Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As an aspiring hitch-hiker and troubadour I really want to help proliferate this kind of organisation, since it encourages people to relax and trust people they don't know, which in fact isn't as dangerous as TV has come to make us believe(!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted travelers a good ten times or so, and surfed about the same amount.

The best surfing experiences have always been with the laid back, open people who aren't too big on "rules". I tend towards thinking that if you have to instruct people how to behave when they stay with you, it may be missing the point. The best experiences are where it just feels informal, like staying with friends of friends, almost like you could stay as long as you need.

Jamming in Washington Square Park, New York with tons of strangers and starting a dance party. Swimming in Lake Bled, Slovenia during a rainstorm, stalking the alleys of Marrakech without a map or a clue in the middle of the night.
