About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet as many Livornesi as possible

ABOUT ME

I am PhD student who is researching identity and community in contemporary Europe. I am using football fans in Livorno, Italy to see how this is articulated. I am interested in developing my own understanding of the world (and my place in it) and how communities can be enhanced through communication with each other.
I love travelling, meeting people from around the world and learning new things.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a car journey with many different roads - but be careful not to stall

Music, Movies, and Books

I love most music, but usually listen to old Soul, Motown and Reggae. I also like some Jazz, Classical, Funk, Rock and Folk
Most books I read are travel, cultural or historical - always factual (I'm not much of a novel reader)
I like comedy and historical films - my favourite is 'Life is Beautiful' - it combines both.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting Ancient Egyptian tombs in Luxor that were far removed from the tourist trail. The kindliest man took me into places I shouldn't have seen - giving me the opportunity to live out my Indiana Jones fantasy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to try and teach English and pass on anything I have learned. I teach sociology (and have taught English before) so if this helps, I will do it
I want to speak Italian more naturally, and subsequently speak other languages. Also, I want to meet football fans for my research.

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Australia, Barbados, Belgium, China, Egypt, Finland, France, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
