About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hi there!

help a brother or sister out / see what it’s all about

ABOUT ME

I’ve lived in Mexico since 2008. I love it here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was new to this some four years ago, back in 2014. I was motivated to sign up then because of a trip to NYC, but as you might imagine, looking for a place to crash in the big apple with a brand new account didn't go over too well. But I realized I'd probably enjoy hosting at my apartment in Mexico City. I had a string of guests back then but then something happened at CS and the requests started to dwindle. Nonetheless, my apartment has still given friends and friends of friends (and their friends) a place to stay in the years since. It's the Couch Surfing spirit, alive and well.

I still feel new. I recently had my very first couchsurfing experience in Paris. It was awesome and makes me more committed to continuing to host.

If you're in Mexico City looking for a place to crash, try me. I usually have a roommate, but we're happy to lend the couch (which is actually a twin bed) in the living room for a few days when we can.

***Please note it’s hard for me to accept requests months in advance. 3-10 days is preferable.***

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far so excellent.

Interests

Love reading. The English language. Foreign languages. Writing, literature, and poetry. Music with beats for dancing and music that’s timeless (classical) and uplifting. Going with the flow. Discovering a routine in other places. Spending time with and getting to know people who have the time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I dig it all. Especially like quirky danceable stuff.
Example: Pizzicato Five (my “favorite” band)

Movies: I enjoy movies, but I tend to need someone else to nudge me into watching them. I like getting lost in plots. I remember watching "AI: Artificial Intelligence" and I liked how it just went on forever but I was all wrapped up in the story. I don’t claim it as a great representative of my taste in film, but I liked that I could get lost in it. More recently I felt somewhat the same about "The Wolf of Wall Street,” not a brilliant film, but long, and I remember thinking “Where the hell is this going?” but I enjoyed the journey.

Books: I’ll read anything someone recommends to me or better yet puts in my hands! I try to read Spanish-language authors in Spanish though Don Quixote is a recent exception.
Examples: Los detectives salvajes, 1Q84, La mansión de las blanquísimas mofetas, The Trumpet of the Swan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking three hours through the Ecuadorian Amazon to get to a small village where we would stay for two days. I’m vegetarian and survived those two days on yuca alone.
