About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to formulate an acceptable mission

ABOUT ME

I teach philosophy and sociology - both rockin subjects and I feel pretty OK about my work most of the time. I play a little bit of guitar, speak some languages (French, English and little bits of Spanish, German and Dutch).

PHILOSOPHY

Hmm, I could spend a while answering this one. A kind of poststructuralist anarchist, I suppose. "keep your mind in hell and despair not" is a recent quote I heard which resonates powerfully for me. "Another world is possible". How about "soyons realiste, exigeons l'impossible"? "la lutte, mais la fete aussi" (struggle, yes; but also party!) 'Fun is where you make it' i saw on a wall in the Neustadt part of Dresden a couple of years ago. In the same part of that city I saw the phrase 'utopia out of spiders and things' two small reasons why I love East Germany (nobody writes such beautiful things on walls where I live) My life philosophy changes regularly. In fact, since writing that last sentence, I no longer have a life philosophy. Who speaks when something is uttered? There is nothing but multiplicities, we are all groupuscules.
Sorry, I'm getting quite carried away, I'd better stop there.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Seventh Seal, 2001, Sideways, Morrissey, Bob Dylan, David Bowie. More into song and film than literature. Power/Knowledge by Foucault. Oliver Stone, Felix Guattari, Benicio Del Toro, Gilles Deleuze, I'm really enjoying reading Slavoj Zizek at the moment. Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen, Paul Giamatti, Hope Sandoval, Herman Hesse.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a little bit about philosophy and a bit about political theory. But there is no such as an 'expert in politics' in my opinion. Politics is life itself, there are no two individuals who cannot learn from each other. Personally, I know a bit about French politics and political theory after World War Two. I play a bit of guitar - mainly Smiths tunes who I absolutely love.
