About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover as many hidden and not-so-hidden corners of this 'small' world...

ABOUT ME

I am a very social person with a quirky sense of humour [once I get to know someone] and I love to travel around. When I have extra time on my hands I am a TV addict, but I don't stay indoors for too long.

I speak 5 languages and am working on my 6th - Finnish.

My favourite sport is Artistic Gymnastics and I used to be a coach as well. I also ski and snowboard when the weather strikes...

I am a [very] amateur photographer but would love to get better!

...And my sentences are often discombobulated and jump from topic to topic...

I've been told I'm a loyal friend and best of all, I always strive to keep in touch with the people I meet.

PHILOSOPHY

Do whatever it is in this life that makes you happy, and do it now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am brand-new to CS and I'm not sure yet but once my living situation is more stable, I would love to bring people in my area together and show passing travelers around whenever I get a chance to!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A random few here and there:
Met some CSers at a bar night in Helsinki.
Showed a new friend around the same city.
Hosted a friend back in Mannheim.

Interests

Travel, learning new languages and using them, gymnastics, making new friends...and so much more that I just can't think of right now...oh! and cheese, I'm a big fan of cheese.

Music, Movies, and Books

I wouldn't know where to begin...

Music: Anything catchy. [MGMT, Sufjan Stevens, Metric, Phoenix, Kanye West... just to show extent of variety]
Books: The Fountainhead, The Lovely Bones, Eat, Pray, Love...[among many other randoms read over the years]
Movies: ...oh, so many...Garden State, Prime, Cruel Intentions, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Juno The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved half-way around to world to a country whose language I didn't speak and whose culture I didn't know: Finland. I guess that's not so much a moment as an ongoing adventure...

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe I'll take this opportunity to tell you a bit about Finland...

- Finland has 5.3 million inhabitants, of which 5% speak only Swedish.
- The official languages are Finnish and Swedish, while Saami is recognized as an official regional language.
- There are 188,000 lakes in Finland and 180,000 islands.
- The Finnish language shares similarities with Estonian. Grammatical similarities exist with Hungarian [though none that Finnish people can hear, nor I for that matter.]
- 'Pupu on pipi' means 'The bunny is sick' in Finnish.
