Über mich
Hi, I’m Marko! I studied environmental science at the University of Zagreb, and my research has taken me all over—from Angola to Peru, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and now Taiwan. I’m currently working in a fish lab here, which means I get to do fieldwork and go diving quite often—both of which I’m really fond of.
When I’m not working, I love to travel, and I’ve visited over 50 countries so far. I’m also very active and have always been into various sports. As a huge foodie, I’m always excited to try new dishes, and I don’t think there’s a food I don’t enjoy.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I love meeting new people and experiencing new places through the eyes of locals. What better way to explore a city’s hidden gems and gain a deeper understanding of its culture than with someone who knows it best? I’m also a huge fan of trying things I haven’t done before because I believe it’s not just a path to professional growth but also a key to personal development. Time spent discovering new experiences with others is time well spent.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Music: I enjoy music from the ex-Yugoslavian region. Ever since I’ve been away from home, I tend to listen to music that reminds me of it—nostalgic, I know.
Movies: I’m not a fan of horror movies.
Books: I’d say I read a lot—feel free to check out my profile on Goodreads here. Though, I must admit, it could use a thorough update!
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
It’s tough to pick just one, as I try to do at least one thing each year that I’m really proud of. Here are a few highlights: I’ve completed a marathon, survived a 3-month field trip in Angola where I camped in a tent during the heavy rainy season, had a close encounter with a puma in the middle of the Peruvian rainforest, climbed Mont Blanc, and scuba dived with sharks in the Red Sea...
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I’m passionate about improving my foreign language skills and exchanging stories with others. I love exploring the differences between us, only to find out how much we all have in common. I’m always up for an adventure, sharing stories, and enjoying a good laugh. Whether it’s something I’ve recently read or a topic close to my heart, I’m happy to teach and share what I know. I’m a firm believer in learning something new every day to live a more balanced and fulfilling life, even in our fast-paced world.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
A good sense of humor—allegedly—and a smile. It’s at least what I could do!
