Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling across the U.S.A. to experience its diversity first-hand. Also to delay going back to Germany.

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Markus, and I'm a 24-year-old Computational Engineering grad student from Germany. I was born and raised in Jena, an idyllic university town in between foresty limestone hills.

For the last ten months I've been studying abroad at the University of California in Berkeley. Before going back to Germany to finish my degree, I'm spending about a month travelling around the U.S. So far I've been to Hawaii, L.A., New Orleans and a few places in Texas and now I'm excited to experience the East Coast.

PHILOSOPHY

Never stop to enjoy the little things in life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far, but I'm very excited to try it out!

Interessi

I've got a big passion for music, especially when it comes to experiencing it live... listening and making alike. I started playing the bass guitar a couple of years ago, but I also had my try at harmonica and drums. Right now I'm learning how to play the ukulele.

I'm also a big fan of nature and although I'm a city kid, I have to escape the urban life once in a while to go out into nature, either by hiking or with my bicycle.

If nothing else is going on, I just like to kick it with my friends, have some beers and watch a movie or play video games.

Musica, film e libri

Generaly, I prefer rock music, especially if it's got that good old 70s hard rock sound going. But I'm also a fan of indie, blues, heavy metal and jazz. (Check out my profile on http://last.fm/user/mrcuneus to see my favorite bands!)

I'm a big fan of movies that have a complex plot or are just unique in their own way. My favorite directors are Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino. Apart from those two I like movies such as Blues Brothers, Fight Club, The Big Lebowski and Lucky Number Slevin.

I enjoy reading books by Douglas Adams, Chuck Palahniuk and Terry Pratchett. The next book I'm planning on reading will be A Game of Thrones. (Big fan of the show!)

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I've been to the Grand Canyon and simply got stunned by its vast and majestic beauty.

Insegna, impara, condividi

If you share my love in music, I'd be more than happy to jam with you. I'm travelling with harmonica and ukulele so we should be able to make a nice little improptu session.

I recently tried out meditating and got a little frustrated by how difficult it actually can be. Maybe you have some insights that can help me to keep up practicing it.
