Hi! Nice to meet you. I'm Marleen from the Netherlands. Travelling around the world is on top of the bucketlist of a lot of people. I decided to travel the world by staying over with locals. As a professional photographer I making stories about our feeling of 'home'. So for a place to sleep, I want to tell your story. The stories are always about someone's feeling of home.

I got really got interested in the revolution of 'minimalism'. We are more stressed out then ever, to be able to buy whatever we want. I decided to create more experiences and consume less. After traveling for more than two years, I wrote many stories about my hosts. I started a column to share my amazing experiences. I was a huge succes, so I even published a book! Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A lot of couchsurfers helped me during my trips and I want to give something back also. I don't like tourist attractions, so this is a good way to learn a city from a other side.

Interests

Museum, movies, art, photography, going to a club, but also I like to (extreme) sports. I really wanna learn how to surf, so that is one item of my bucket list. Also hiking is one of my favorites and off course going to the beach and stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove from Amsterdam to Dakar in an old car.
I went 6 weeks to the slums of India to photograph obesity.
I hitchhiked for two weeks and photographed al the people I met.
I jumped out of an airplane.
I boarded on sand in the Sahara.
I photographed some bucket lists items of many people.
I finished a yoga studie.
I did a husky safari in Lapland.
I saw and photographed the Nothern lights.
I slept without a tent in the mountains of Norway
