Hello, I'm a librarian and teacher. I really enjoy meeting people from other countries and learning about new cultures. I lived for much of my life in Ohio, but I've in Florida for the past five years. I visited Europe many times.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am trying to become more fluent in the Romance languages (French, Spanish, and Italian) on DuoLingo, but I do not have many people locally with whom I can practice verbal conversations, so that is why I would especially enjoy meeting people from these countries. I have tried German language instruction too and a few Eastern European languages, but so far my brain hasn't absorbed much of that yet ;) So if any of you are in Jacksonville and would like to meet up for conversation, or next time I'm visiting Europe and you would like to host me, that would be great! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, I enjoy classic rock from the 60s and 70s (my parent's music, lol). For movies, I enjoy comedies and foreign films. For books, I read everything (I am a librarian, after all!) non-fiction (such as how to improve your health/diet, cook books, biographies, geography studies, travel guides, etc.) and fiction (historical classics like Dickens, Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Hawthorne, Poe or modern categories like thrillers, mysteries, comedies, satire, memoirs, or anything else that might catch my eye in my Goodreads queue. Bill Bryson is a particularly favorite author of mine as his books combine both humor and travel (two of my favorite things).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have also traveled abroad several times to Canada, the UK (England - where my in-laws are from and where I lived for two years), Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Greece.
