About Me

Hola everyone!! We are Oli and Marlene, from England // Germany. We are setting off for a (hopefully) big trip.
We are starting in England, from where we want to hitchhike from Olis Grandmother doorstep to the Putins (Moscow). There we take the Transsib to visit my sister in Sibiria, and from there we want to make our way through Mongolia, China, Southeastasia and where not. This is only a rough idea and really, for us the success of this trip depends highly on meeting new people, also here on Couchsurfing. So whether you can host us or hang out in you city, we will be happy to meet you!!

Oli and I met in Spain in 2015, when we were both still traveling, and have lived for the past year together in Leipzig, Germany. We have travelled together / alone / with other people before but this is the first trip together with no real objective other than exploring the world and come across a million awesome new places, cities, and people!! Thanks in advance for reading all this and hopefully host us in your town (once we settle somewhere of course we want to return the favours ;)

Since we are still two individual people:

Marlene: Holaaaa, Im 24 old, born and raised in Germany, and just finished my degree in Internatinal Cultural and Business Studies (exciting times!!!) I studied in Passau, Bavaria, but lived a year in Spain (Pamplona) and in Argentina (Buenos Aires) two places that became home to me! I have different names in all the places, its Brandy in Passau, Marlen in Spain and Leni in Argentina... my friends in Leipzig call me Theo & Oli is just confused about all that!! In the past years Ive travelled to quite a lot of places, did volunteering in hostels or at festivals.
. lots of stories to share, see you soon, beso!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For now we have only a rough idea where we want to go and we are open to anything that the way offers us, ( in terms of places, hitchhiking posibilities...) couchsurfing and meeting new people is big part of this adventure!!

For this trip we want to avoid planes and its also a very low budget trip, which is why couchsurfing, camping, hitchhiking and work in exchange for accomodation is essential for us, although we talk about it quite often that even if we had more money we`d chose that way to travel, because its simply more fun and far more exciting.

Interests

We both like music, meeting people, listening to stories and food. Oli is a real movie nerd (take us to a pubquiz and you will be impressed) and I play Ultimate Frisbee :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Marlene:
I have to admit that Olivia is a big influence for me when it comes to all the arty stuff :P He made me like the Beatles, Wild Beasts and a lot more indie bands. He FORCED me to watch old Bond movies and the Shining ( I dont watch movies alone because they either bore me OR I get so into them that I get all scaredd/ emotional and I cant handle that shit alone :P )
I have a thing for latin music too, especially at late night long distance drives. The album Ive listen to most is probably Costello Music by the Fratellis;) My favourite Boyband is OJ on the Run, check them out!!

Together this year we have been to gigs from Wild Beasts, Car Seat Head Rest and Courtney Barnett.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Marlene:
With Olivia I did quite a lot of hitchhiking, one of our coolest trips was probably when we hitchhiked 4000km from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and slept at a Puma hunting cowboys ranch, next to some bins at a busstop, behind a gasstation, but also next to the absolutely stunning Mount Fitz Roy in the south of Argentina:)

Teach, Learn, Share

Marlene:
- how to play Frisbee
- how to open a bottle with a lighter (OLI CANT DO IT)
- how to do the "worm" at parties
- German Kartoffelsalat
