About Me
Hi, I‘m Marlen! After spending nine months living and working in Canada, I‘m now on my way back home. Instead of taking a direct flight to Germany, my husband Robert and I decided to take some time off and explore the Phillipines, Northern India and Nepal. We are excited to meet locals and other travellers to share stories and to understand different cultures and places even better.
I am a business economist and Robert is a High School teacher for Sports and Politics and a semi-professional soccer coach. We are both originally from the Eastern part of Germany, but used to live in Berlin before we moved to Ottawa, Canada. We are a couple for over six years and we are quite „proven“ travel couple since we travelled many countries together, including Eastern Europe, South East Asia or Australia.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to understand the people and cultures of the countries I am travelling to - and what‘s a better way to get closer to a foreign culture than staying with locals? :)
Interests
I believe travelling is a great (and fun) way to educate yourself. I am interested in foreign countries and languages, their people and cultures, politics and economics.

Cycling more than 1,000 km through Europe - from Potsdam, Germany to Lake Balaton, Hungary.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lots of stories about moving to a foreign country without having a clou where to live or what to work (at the end it turned out pretty amazing!), about living in a household with an Academy Award winner or about our bicycle tour through Europe.
