ABOUT ME
Hi there, I'm Marlien from the Netherlands. I study media at the University of Utrecht, and active in all kinds of student initiatives. Filming and writing are definitely some of my favorite things to do but I'm also very happy to just enjoy new experiences, meet new people and discover new places :)

PHILOSOPHY
To me, the most importent thing about live is living it to its fullest. TOT HET UITERSTE! This includes but is not limited to partying hard, make the most out of every day and to never stop discovering new experiences and insights to understand this strange and mysterious world we're living in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a 30/40 something surfers in the last three years. I love meeting people from other cultures because this opens the horizon and allows us to think outside our own little cultural bubble. And of course, you get to meet all kinds of awesome people and have some of that 'travel experience' without leaving your own home! :D

Music, Movies, and Books

Some kinds of music I like are glamrock, trip hop, acid jazz, breakbeat, jungle, '60's psychedelic rock, tekno, frenchcore and darkpsy, I also like going to concerts, (free)parties and to watch all kinds of series (vikings, 4400, doctor who, star trek), movies (The Holy Mountain, Stalker, From Dusk till Dawn, True Romance, experimental/independant/less predictable than classic Hollywood narrative) and anime (mushishi, .hack and mononoke are my favourites). Books are also great, I love a good fantasy (Steven Erikson <3), sci-fi or dirty realism.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you some film tips for every occasion, my cooking skills because I love to cook but I definitely need an audience for this, and of course my company and conversation :)

I'm also trying to learn Polish, I'd be interested to talk to anyone who could help me with this and in exchange help you with your English or Dutch.
