Hi guys!

I'm Marlies, proud Dutch, but also very happy to spend the last few years of my student life in Antwerp, Belgium. Earlier I lived in Amsterdam, where I studied cultural anthropology and social development studies. I also spend some time in Budapest, where I went on my Erasmus exchange program. There, I completely fell in love with ESN (Erasmus Student Network). Back home I suffered from a serious post-Erasmus depression,haha, which made me decide to go for round 2! I joined the board of ESN Antwerp, so now I'm in the organisation, being very busy with entertaining all the exchange students here.

I'm very enthousiastic, always down for adventure, and I believe in Karma (she is a bitch and always coming for you )! Sarcasm is also really my thing! Besides that, I'm quite clumsy, but good for a lot of fun.

I'm really excited to try couchsurfing cause I really like the idea of spending time with local people, and get to know more about them and the city from first hand! As my studies shows, I'm really interested in the way people shape their lives. I'm fascinated by all kinds of different cultures, habits and customs. I love to meet new people and hear their stories. That's one of the reasons I joinend ESN as well. I like to surround myself with international, open minded and adventurous people , who all have a different way in approaching and interpretating the world. I believe couchsurfing is a great way of doing that

I can definitely recommend you all to participate in 'de Nijmeegse Vierdaagse' a.k.a. The Walk Of The World, Nijmegen.

Another great experience was spending a night in the Sahara desert. Together with our Berber guides, me and my sis climbed a sand dune in the middle of the night to watch the stars from up there.
