Overview
About Me
I just moved to Siebeldingen, a small village West of Landau, to do a PhD in environmental psychology!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really like the idea behind couchsurfing. I like that it's not based on money and profit but on trust and exchange. I like that it is about giving and receiving, about helping each other out, about interest in another person, another way of life, about 'new flavors' in one's everyday life or travels. At least that's what I want it to be.
Interests
Psychology, Political Ecology, Photography, Nature, hiking, travelling, hitchhiking, activism, writing, meeting inspiring people and hearing their stories, having stimulating discussions, cycling, attempting to play guitar (still learning :-) ) and the flute and recorder, cooking, having unique experiences, thinking a lot about many things and trying to come to an understanding somehow, trying out alternative ways of living and living the most sustainable I can, setting challenges for myself, and simply enjoying life!
I'm trying to live my life in a way that I find meaningful when I'm older. It's as simple as that!

- cooking
- recipes

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of my favorite movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Mr. Nobody, Garden State, Speed (documentary by Florian Opitz, one of the best directors!), Cave of the Yellow Dog, Into the Wild!
Momo (Michael Ende is great in general), 1984 by George Orwell, L'Adultera by Theodor Fontane, Demian by Hermann Hesse, a lot of Goethe's work, Kafka, ...and probably many more authors that I haven't read yet :-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling China on my own without a word of Mandarin was pretty amazing!
Living in the Redwoods in Northern Cali and the only (politically) green town in the States
Hitchhiking for almost 10,000 km so far - mainly solo. There's no better way to meet such a diverse range of people, opinions, and wisdom! (...maybe there is, I don't actually know, but hitchhiking is pretty good!)
Climbing Northern Africa's highest peak (Jbal Toubkal in Morocco) in sandals
I'm in a process of questioning everything and trying to live my conclusions
Teach, Learn, Share
I wouldn't really know what to teach. I think it really depends on you and what you're used to.
But if you haven't heard of dumpsterdiving for example, then maybe I could introduce you to something new.
I really like plants, especially when they are eadible. And I'm not so bad with them. So if you're interested in growing your own tomato plants inside until they touch the ceiling without ever getting direct sunlight, I may be able to share a secret.
Or perhaps you want to learn German? I could probably help with that.
One thing I really like to learn about is wisdom! I love hearing what matters most to people, what kind of truth they found over the years, what they would teach their kids. If you have some wisdom to share, I'd be very happy to sit down with some tea and listen to what you have to say.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my stories with you and my way to view the world.
I can share some of my favorite foods and I would love to learn about yours. I'm collecting recipes from situations, people and places that I've enjoyed as a special way of remembering them. For me this is a great souvenir to bring home.
