Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to explore as many cultures as possible with my husband, Jaco.
Establishing my business working with children experiencing learning barriers.
ABOUT ME
I've been happily married for almost ten years to a hubby who has never travelled internationally, and until we started dating, also not much locally. Sure, he's been to places but he only recently discovered the joy of being a traveler and falling in love with every destination we visit. I had the wonderful opportunity to live and work in both Germany and South Korea, sparking my love for other cultures. My taste of the world and the international community has taught me that people are mostly good and kind and love to share their cultures with you.
We have two dogs, Duncan and Tessa, and they are our babies.
I have a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology, and I am currently completing my internship at a local High School. My husband is an Integrative Software Engineer.
PHILOSOPHY
Be the change
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A friend from my time in Korea is a firm supporter of Couchsurfing, not only traveling, but also hosting regularly. She recommended we check it out for our own travels, and also to get to know more people from the international community.

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to say.
I love any music, except death metal, country songs and South African "boeremusiek". I enjoy pretty much anything else, depending on my mood and I love being exposed to new non-mainstream artists.
I'm more of an action movie, than a romantic comedy fan. I enjoy superhero movies and the occasional "end-of-the-world" drama. Not a fan of blood flowing from the screen horrors, but I am open to psychological thrillers.
Though I love reading, I don't do it as often as I could / should, so I challenged myself to read at least 12 books per year. My favourite book is by a South African writer , Marita vd Vyver : "Wegkomkans" (Breathing Space), but I also read biographies, novels, fiction, non-fiction, etc. Basically I read anything, if I can get through the first chapter and stay interested.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Danced on the Great wall of China and shared a stage with a hologram of ABBA (Me)
Skydive (Jaco, my husband)
Ran a half-marathon (Both of us)
Teach, Learn, Share
I am currently trying to learn the basics of photography, as well as figuring out how to live more minimalistically.
I am hoping to learn guitar this year and get more opportunity to sing. I'd love to host a small cabaret performance at my home one day.
It brings me great joy to learn about different cultures and share South Africa's cultures with the international community, especially since I know many people have questions about our history and way of ife.
I'll be happy to learn whatever you are willing to share!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My husband can do small maintenance tasks (if you provide him with the necessary tools) and I can cook you a nice meal.
Apart from that we can share humour and conversation.
