Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Marlo - I'm 22 and from Melbourne, Australia. I just graduated from my Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications, French, and Italian, and I'm currently travelling as a means of avoiding the reality of finding a real job and becoming an adult (it's going pretty well so far!)
I am passionate about meeting new people and learning about their stories and the stories of their homes. Since I was younger I have jumped on every opportunity that's come up to travel, both internationally and around Australia, and this has truly shaped me as a person, broadened my perspective of the world, and forged some of my strongest friendships.
Back home I love to spend time with my friends, often spending most of our money on food (worth it). Outside of friends and study and food, I train in ballroom and latin dancing and am a competitive cheerleader. I also worked in an ice cream shop, so if you ever have questions about how to work an ice cream churn, I'm your gal.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I guess I'm on Couchsurfing because I'd heard so much about it and I wanted to get involved in what sounded like a lot of fun and potential new friends and memories.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love listening to (almost) anything and everything (maybe not techno or heavy metal/scream), and am a serial thief of my friends' playlists.
I really enjoy international films, particularly French and Italian ones. Slightly niche/offbeat films are also right up my alley. It's no surprise that I went to Bruges because of the movie In Bruges.
Since finishing uni I've gladly started reading a lot again, and I'll usually enjoy it as long as it's not really dense and about media and identity theories, like everything I've had to read for the past four years has been!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2017 my cheer team came 7th in the World at the USASF World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida. We're an all girl team and while it may not have been top three, we were ecstatic because it was after our first year competing at level 5.
This one time I also hit in two of my balls off one shot in a game of pool - I don't think I'll ever peak like that again.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach you how to make an origami paper crane or a couple of good Italian phrases. Maybe even how to do a handstand if you're feeling adventurous!
In terms of learning, I'm all ears, especially if it'll help improve my godawful French skills. But in all seriousness, I'm always excited to learn about the people I meet - because as wanky as it might sound, life's about learning.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can always share a hand with cleaning duties and an endless stream of bad puns. I can make a smashing tiramisu if you're ever craving a pick me up.
On another note, I'm an obsessively neat and clean person and have luckily been in the habit of making my bed since a young age, so I suppose that I also offer tidiness.
