Hello citizens of the world!

I am Maria Morris, a recent college graduate with a BA from Vassar College in the state of New York. I grew up on the East Coast of the USA, blessed by the smell of salt air and the sounds of waves crashing on not-too-distant shores. My degree is in Environmental Studies and I want to get involved in direct action organizing for the conservation of nature and climate justice/human rights. My next step is to find fulfilling and meaningful work and decide if I want to pursue a graduate degree in the upcoming years!

One of my favorite poems is "Kindness" by Naomi Shihab Nye, and it ends beautifully with this final stanza:

"Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes
and sends you out into the day to mail letters and purchase bread,
only kindness that raises its head
from the crowd of the world to say
It is I you have been looking for,
and then goes with you everywhere
like a shadow or a friend."

I have been so fortunate to travel to a few many countries in my life and want to keep the list growing! The world is a large and incredible place, but the connections that people form with new landscapes and new friends is what makes it home.
