Overview
About Me
*I'm currently in the US for 3 months, so I can't host anyone at this time, I'm afraid.*
I'm an open guy who truly enjoys meeting all sorts of people. I'm mostly easy going and rarely judge anyone. I tend to talk quite a lot, but you can always hit me if you feel like interrupting one of my monologues.
PHILOSOPHY
Currently, I'm mainly trying to figure out how to travel as much as possible in combination with working at the university. Working quite regularly for the past year has been good for my chaotic mind, but I feel that there are more important things in life that I'm sacrificing. The long term life plan is to find a job that allows me to be productive in something I love, without limiting my opportunities to discover the world.
I have strong motivations to live my live to the fullest and be try to be a good person. But these are rather personal, so I'd rather discuss them over a nice cup of coffee than on my profile. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been hosting people for a few years now and have had more than 50 people stay a night on my couch. :) I've had legendary evenings with some of my guests and am amazed at how much CS has enriched my life. I've recently read a book about Antwerp so I can give a more detailed description of interesting sites than 'Building', 'statue' or 'square'. I'm hoping future surfers will leave Antwerp with more than just knowledge about beer. ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't used the site much to find a host, but have stayed on couches in quite a few cities like Berlin, Valencia, Barcelona, Vienna, ... I met a lot of people from abroad and it's a fun and cheap way of travelling. I've also visited some of the guests I've had over in their city recently and am delighted to see there are so many hospitable people in the world.
Interests
I'm currently doing a PhD in Physics at the University of Antwerp. Over the last four years I've fallen in love with Antwerp and its great restaurants, bars and active nightlife. Other than that, I love to read, travel, cook and all that good stuff. I used to be quite into hard rock - yes, I had long hair - so that's the music I grew up with, but have developed a much broader taste in music in the last few years. One thing I probably should note that I also play dungeons and dragons, and that I hope you won't hold it against me.
Music, Movies, and Books
Lately I've been reading some more of Terry Pratchett's discworld novels, but I'm also looking for more books of Paulo Coelho. His book 'Veronika decides to die' is one of most moving books I've ever read. My taste in music is quite diverse, but if I had to choose one favorite genre it'd be rock, with my favorite band being Led Zeppelin. I really enjoy watching movies and series, especially the dialogue intensive masterpieces from Tarantino.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've left this section open for the past years, because I found it difficult to take one thing and just write it here. I'd like to think I've had an interesting life so far and I have my fair share of stories, but I can't seem to decide on one for this section. Maybe it just needs time. ^^
