About Me

***
TRAVEL: I am travelling with my sister between Jan 21st and Mar 2nd, 2015, in Europe. We prepared a video introducing our backpacking tour of this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CogD_c_YTIE&feature=youtu.be

I am a journalist, an audiovisual producer, an avid reader (specially history and historical novels), cinema lover, coffee addict, family boy, Human Rights defender, a traveller and a happiness hunter.

I believe that I, and only I, am the sole responsable for my own happiness, and so I must work my way to be happy and stay happy, while ading others in their own responsable journey to theirs. It is only one life we have, let´s live it well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I live in a highly touristic country and I have seen how both Costa Ricas develop. I would love for travelers to see the actual place, the culture, to taste the food, meet its people, its ways of having fun, its fears, its uniqueness, its needs and wisdom.

I have also had the opportunity to go around, and I´ve seen the strong differences from traveling with locals or with an agency. I really like the real thing, the face to face - feet on the ground experience.

I have hosted a total of five visitors so far (from Germany, Nicaragua and Norway) Met and arranged in and outside of the CS community.

And I have surfed CS' couches in Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany. Also surfed non-CS couches (but same spirit) in Norway, Germany, France and The Netherlands.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love literature and cinema so much that I can´t really list this out.

I really enjoy stories that are as faithful to historical facts as possible, in books and on-screen. I appreciate a complex story line, I listen carefully to the soundtracks and watch closely the photography and art directions. And I feal real gratitude for good acting and strong characters.

As for music I usually stick around with the soundtracks I liked when I saw the movie originally. Then I also do some rock, not too heavy, pop, electronic, some latin beats, classical music and choirs.

I pay attention to recommendations, I´ve discovered amazing things from them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I´ve been around in my home country, an amazing little piece of land between two big oceans and two big Americas. There is always something beautiful happening.

Out there, I´ve backpacked through Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, France and The Netherlands. And got lost in Rome, the Vatican Museums, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Oslo, Trondheim, Hamburg, Paris and Amsterdam. I am pretty good at getting lost and finding my way back!

I have represented my country in the biggest students festival in the world, the International Students Festival in Trondheim, Norway, ISFiT 2013. And I have been invited to be a delegate again along with my sister for the 2015 edition :D

Teach, Learn, Share

I have my Spanish and my English, my Costa Rican cooking, some history knowledge and my 20+ years long curly hair care tips c:

I also have a book or movie recommendation for almost every mood. Although I probably know less than 1% of all movies ever made. I am in the hunt for some recommendations myself, please feel free!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a good talk time. I love to learn something new everytime possible and transfer the knowledge. I´ve got some creativity in my genes, and can usually help out with the fun work of the day. Just please keep me away from glass doors, my face has had enough of those.

In Journalism school we are told that journalists are supposed to know it all, because you could cover any type of story at anytime. Well, in real life it is not quite like that, at the end we know so little of so many different things. So, I can definitely talk about almost any topic until I reach a dead point. But I´m pretty honest about it, I´ll let you know when I´m maxed out. Good thing is, I am always in the mood to learn some more.

Now, I can still defend myself a little bit more if we are talking about movie´s soundtracks, which is something I am very interested in, audiovisual production, history (specially from the Americas and Europe, although I´ve read and continue to learn about the entire world), literature, Human Rights, the human happiness-related philosophies, coffee and definitely curls-care tips, "among others" :)

I am latino, yes, but I do not dance salsa, I publicly apologize. I have tried, but not my best, perhaps. But you know what they say: "in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king", which is a cruel way to say that if no other latino is around, I will bring the Ricky Martin out of me. Hahahaha, do not believe that.

Fun, I can bring some fun. And cooking, latin dishes are simply the best.
