Hi 👋 I’m Mars 🪐 and I want to see more brown girls traveling the world on instagram. There’s not a lot so here’s my little attempt to increase the odds. Traveling is indeed a privilege.

I’m also looking for a lifestyle re-design. I’m quitting my job to test the proverbial adage- “the world is your osyter.” But is it? Saved just enough to do a little bit of funemployment and risk taking this year but I have a tight runway so we gotta make that dough by other means. Exciting! What would I be next? A writer, a waitress, a chef? A fruit picker, a business owner, a pilot?

A little background: I’ve worked in tech for the longest time wearing different hats. The latest ones - as a product manager and as an analytics engineer. I made it without knowing how to code at first. My heart is really close to women or minorities who are taking the leap of faith to change careers or study something out of their comfort zone and pivot their life. Occasionally I might post about that. I’m also into fitness so that might be content too.

Anyhow, this is the space where I turn all these adventures into reels — attempts to grow my income as I transition away from my full time job, fitness for longevity instead of aesthetics, and my travels, despite having one of the weakest passports in the world 🇵🇭

I hope this little corner of instagram inspires more brown girls - or anyone- to dare, travel and thrive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Local exchange and slow travel. Getting a hotel or airBnB is nice but nothing beats seeing a new city or place in the eyes of those who live in it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Finally able to do a pull up after 2.5 years of working my way towards it (got a torn ligament on my wrist and lost over 20lbs in the process)
