About Me

I am a student entering my senior year at Northwestern University near Chicago, Illinois. I major in economics and business institutions and I am the third of four boys. I think meeting people, teaching, and trying new things is an integral part of who I am. I'm studying abroad in Barcelona right now and trying to experience as much as I can in countries around Europe! I love to talk about life experiences with people, usually over some form of liquid (tea, beer, coffee, lemonade, etc..)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm hoping couch surfing is more than a free place to stay (although that is definitely nice!). I am trying to learn everything I can about other cultures as I travel throughout Europe, and I don't feel like I can do that when I stay in a hostel or air b&b in a touristy area. Trust me, I've tried many a time since I got to Europe. I want to meet someone who can show me the real city, not the tourist stuff the city wants you to see. More importantly, I want to meet you and hear about your life and make a real connection. I want to see the similarities and differences across our cultures and take something real away from the trip. If you think you can help me with that, I would really appreciate it!

Interests

I'll make a quick list of 6:
1. Reading a good book
2. Frisbee
3. Delicious Food
4. Learning to cook delicious food
5. Playing my cello
6. Card games: I love to teach my favorites but I'm always open to picking up new ones

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have bands I like in every genre! Some of my favorites include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N' Roses, The Black Keys, Eminem, The Police, and The Who
Movies: Interstellar, Finding Nemo, Shawshank Redemption, The Warrior
Books: I read too many books. I take recommendations really seriously so if you have a recommendation for me, I will probably read it before I even get to your house/apartment. Some of my favorites are The Phantom Tollbooth, 1984, Brave New World, Gone with the Wind, and Everything is Illuminated

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Actually just a couple days ago, I got a grade back for a presentation in Spanish to a class full of Spanish students. The interesting thing about it was that I worked in a group of native Spanish speakers from Barcelona, but I told them I wanted to present because I thought it would give the class an interesting perspective from an American student. What was crazy is that my group ended up with the highest grade in the class!

Teach, Learn, Share

Those things all sound great:

Teach:
I love to teach! I am going to be an English teacher for part of the summer at a camp called Fun&Learn in Spain! Free English lessons are included with your agreement to host me

Learn:
I love that too! Teach me anything

What I Can Share with Hosts

I guess anything you guys want to know!
As for what I can contribute, I put what I could think of below.

Cooking: I wish I was better than I am, but I cook a mean pasta! And I of course will do the dishes if I'm not involved in the cooking process. My family taught me that everyone contributes around meal time!

Moving: I'm pretty strong, so if you need help moving anything around for some reason, I would love to help out.

Cards: I would love to teach a few of my favorite games. Just be prepared to lose!

Other than that, I definitely have my conversation to offer!
