About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Best summed up with a John Muir quote. "The world is big and I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark."

ABOUT ME

Very easy going. Not very interested in staying put. I have to go somewhere new or exciting at least twice a year. This lifestyle has made it hard for me to keep a steady job for any considerable amount of time but I'm fine with that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent time couchsurfing in Belfast, Ireland and Inverness, Scotland. It was probably the highlight of my 3 month European tour. My hosts were exceptional. I'd like to think they learned as much from me as I did from them. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Interests

History, hockey, music, reading, cycling in no particular order.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:If I were allowed to watch only 5 movies for the rest of my life they would be Back to the Future, Cool Hand Luke, Office Space, Dazed and Confused, and The Shawshank Redemption. Martin Scorsese and Sergio Leone are my two favorite directors, so anything they have done.
Music:Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steely Dan. I could make a list a mile long but I'll spare you. Mostly old rock music. I have no problem listening to Jazz and Blues. Love Bluegrass. Can't go wrong with Bela Fleck.
Books:Anything written by David McCullough or Edmund Morris. Most anything written by Stephen King. An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth by Col. Chris Hadfield.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have done is to hop on my bicycle and ride down the Natchez Trace with two of my friends. We rode the whole 444+ miles in 4 days. It felt amazing to make it so far, in such a short time, under my own power. There's nothing like it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to think I have a pretty good amount of general knowledge. I can hold a conversation in just about anything. I can teach you how to make a key lime pie or tell you about Theodore Roosevelt if you're interested in either of those things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

General good company.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland, Vatican City State
