PHILOSOPHY

I guess I figure that whatever happens was meant to be. I try to accept it all -- the good and the bad (and yeah, why not...the ugly too). I really don't sweat the small stuff and know that time heals all wounds. (Please forgive my heavy usage of cliches:) I try and do what's right all the time mostly because it's the right thing to do but also because I VERY strongly believe it all comes back to you in one way or another. Also, and this is important to me, I thank God, the universe, Allah, the stars...whomever, whatever it is that's responsible for the good in my life every single day because I don't ever want to be caught taking anything for granted. I thank him/her/it... for my two happy, healthy, thriving kids, my excellent health, a job that keeps me fed, allowed me to put two kids through college, keeps a roof over my head and lets me travel. I'm thankful for strong friendships and wonderful extended family relationships. I appreciate all of it daily. This is what works for me and keeps me young and happy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a fair amount. Brooklyn seems to be a popular destination these days. I've hosted people from the CS site but also plenty of folks not from CS, friends of friends, family, etc.

兴趣

Meeting new people (of course) and seeing as much of the world as possible. I love music, movies, movies and more movies, great food, chess, crossword puzzles, books, night life, sports and spending as much time in my beloved bed as possible.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

El Camino -- a walk/pilgrimage across Spain. I did it last summer and it took me 32 days to complete the nearly 500 mile journey and I had 32 separate and 32 incredible adventures. Each day I viewed a new landscape as I passed through desert-like terrain, over mountains and through valleys, through forests, along rivers and over every other possible terrain you can imagine and each day l passed through several small, ancient towns each with their own plaza to stop and enjoy an excellent cafe con leche or a cold Coke in. I heard three different languages spoken as I passed through the various regions (Castilian, Spanish and Gallega) and enjoyed excellent specialty foods and wines from those areas. Each night I stayed in a different (quite affordable and mostly lovely) albergue and best of all l met new and interesting people from all over the world every day. If that's not enough, all along The Way I experienced wonderful treasures like the incredible cathedrals that double as art museums, gorgeous castles built in the twelfth century and churches and bridges built by the Romans. Most people I met were in search of something and their stories were fascinating. Pilgrims have been walking this route since medieval times and you can feel the history all along the way. Anyway, I guess you can see that I thought the whole thing was pretty amazing. It is still with me everyday.
