About Me

I'm not ashamed to embrace the silly fun side of being a tourist (if you build a wax museum, I will come), but utterly reject the obnoxious, entitled behavior the word has come to imply (no flash photography means no flash photography, and stop talking so loudly!).

I equally relish the highbrow (a box at the opera. Any opera, anywhere, anytime) and the lowbrow (the Dario Argento museum under a comic shop in Prati, Rome).

I'm addicted to live theater.

I eat and drink with great gusto. I don't enjoy arguing for fun.

New and different = interesting. For at least a day, occasionally a lifetime.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've really enjoyed playing host to some terrific people, but I've been entirely blown away by the generosity, and general delightfulness, of the people who have hosted me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted quite a few people, and have remained friends with everyone I've surfed with.

Interests

I adore the theater, attend frequently, and will travel specifically for something special. When it's good, it's very close to magic. When it's bad, it gives the gift of reminder of how difficult and important the good is.

I also love opera, though bad opera is just bad.

Indigenous food, drink, and music.

I like anything that falls under the "creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky" rubric. That can cover a lot of ground, but I'm particularly enthusiastic about a good cemetery, moth-eaten wax museum, or medical museum. And puppets.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being one of the organizers of the London March for Science, where 12,000 scientists and science enthusiasts demonstrated in support of evidence based policy, cross-border scientific collaboration, and government funding of science.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn to ride a horse. Nothing hardcore, just being able to get on one without panicking would be amazing.

I can teach basic wire and bead jewelry making pretty quickly.

I'm a recognized expert at living as luxuriously as possible for the least amount of money.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music from New Orleans you probably don't know if you haven't been there recently.
