ABOUT ME

If you ask someone who knows me what are some adjectives that come to their mind when you say "Marta", they will probably say something like: cheecky, extroverted, outgoing and intelligent. And it is true. I am someone who, when I set my heart and my mind on something... I accomplish it, no matter how hard or impossible things are.
And now, since I am young, I want to travel the world. I enjoy doing tourisim by my own and with my partner by expending the less I can (you know, there's a huge crisis in Spain! - hahaha). I love getting to know new people and I feel the need to believe in them, no matter how bad someone disappointed me. I believe in people and I always try to see the best in them.

PHILOSOPHY

We are our choices. We are every time we jump to an opportunity and, also, when we are too affraid to do something. We are the result of the choices we made: the challenges we accomplish and the times we let go.
And, here I am, wanting to do something different that makes me feel alive, that allows me to see the world, that will introduce me to so many people who will show me incredible things.
I live my life for me, for doing what I like when I want to. Living by my own beliefs and enjoying every single moment that I am alive is the only thing I can do for, when my time comes, know that I have found happiness and that I was happy... by making decisions.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you could host me for a few days, you will have made yourself a friend forever. And, of course, someday you will be invited to do a tour around Spain.
As I have previously mentioned, I am currently living, working and studying in Gijón, Asturias, but my lovely hometown in A Coruña - and I would love to show you arround!
Whenever we can, my boyfriend and I would love to host you!

I love good music, going to concerts, reading, procrastinating, drinking (beer, of course!), Irish guys, studying Philosophy and Arts on my own, Mark Knopfler, partying, travelling, learning new languages, Pink Floyd, going for long walks, playing volleyball and discovering every single day something new.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I am an old-fashioned girl and, for me, music is a temple. As one of my favorites philosophers said: "Without music, life would be a mistake". My favorite groups are: Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Queen, Asaf Avidan, Ray LaMontagne, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, The Cranberries, The Smiths, Mike Oildfield, Mumford and Sons, Damien Rice, The Police and Ismael Serrano.

Books: mainly poetry (Bécquer, Salinas, Neruda, Benedetti, Machado, Rosalía de Castro, etc.), novels (1982, O único que queda é o amor, Una habitación propia, El hombre en busca de sentido, La catedral del mar, etc.), the classics and biographies about people I admire and its own beliefs (Marx, Murakami, Nietzsche, Van Gogh, Monet, Dalí, etc.).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Earning a scholarship to study abroad for a year in Michigan, USA.
- I took a bath in the Mediterranean Sea and, in less than 2 minutes, in the Atlantic Ocean.
- Being an AuPair in France and Italy for two summers in a row.
- Saw Mark Knopfler in concert three times!
- Volunteering at different organisations.
- Meeting the love of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you how to swear in different languages, or, maybe, just some uself vocabulary!
I could show you how to make some Spanish dishes, too!
I could recommend you books, films and talk to you about anything for hours. I will offer my friendship to you and a mate for your trips... do you want to take it?
