About Me

Hi, I'm Marten, I'm a tall joyful dude from Germany who likes to hang around and see the world. If I'm not out and about somewhere (mostly by bike) you will probably find me hanging out at home reading a book, watching a movie, dreaming about the future (jetpacks!), hunting down art on the gram or working for my degree in English and History. Or I just might be on the bowling alley.
I am happily living in Braunschweig, Germany with my girlfriend at the moment and we finally have some accomodations so I can give back to the community and host some interested surfers :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've only tried it a few times in the UK and loved i!. The way I see it, hostels and Airbnb are also nice ways of staying in cities but they cannot offer what Couchsurfing does. The kind of interpersonal joy you can get couchsurfing is nothing you can get at sterile Hotels and even with Airbnb where I've had really nice hosts, it just does not get as fun as couchsurfing. It is just really nice meeting new people, locals often. Especially in my time visiting England by bike I really enjoyed staying in different places along the way and meeting people there and learn more about England, Scotland and about the world. For me, couchsurfing is a very enjoyable and highly educational experience. If you are thinking about hosting me that of course does not mean I expect a lecture on the local history culture and flora and fauna. I just believe even with the sole activity of meeting people andhaving a jolly time is very benefitial in itself.
