About Me
About me / Why I'm on couchsurfing
Hey I'm Martha :) I'm going to start a Modern Languages university course in September - can you guess why I like to travel yet ? I've just finished a year aupairing in France and I'm trying to squeeze in a few last travels this summer with Mikaila, another Aupair I met in France, who introduced me to the whole couchsurfing concept.
Interests
My interests outside of languages include animals, I worked at a greyhound rescue, work part time in the holidays as a dog walker and have an adorable and very grumpy cat. I live in the countryside so I like walks/hikes, and stargazing when it's not cloudy, which is to say practically never where I live.
When I travel to a new city I like to spend a day just wandering, because I've always found somewhere that'd never be in the tourist info. From a tiny square that looks out over the city, to streets painted with graffiti art to little quirky cafes, the most memorable places aren't always the ones everyone's queueing to see. Also in the past year it's become a thing for me to find a place I can look out over the whole city, from a Ferris wheel, the top of the cathedral, or just by dragging myself up to the top of a hill - whatever there is.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite pop artists are Ed Sheeran, Passenger and Paolo Nutini, I grew up listening to Queen, The Beatles, Elvis and various 80s music of questionable quality thanks to my parents, and I'm a sucker for musicals .
Movies
So many! British comedy is my favourite (not that I'm biased or anything) films like The Boat That Rocked, Four Weddings and a Funeral, About Time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swum with whale sharks in Mozambique.
Lived in France for a year.
