My name is Marthe. I'm a very social girl, who likes to make new friends all over the world :). It seems very nice to me to know that you have a place like home, anywhere in the whole wide world. :)

My boyfriend's name is Owen. We're a couple from Belgium (Antwerp) who are both 24 years old.
Owen and I are a couple for 8 years now.🙂 And we live together for 3 years now.
We are a calm and social couple who are very clean and tidy.
In the past, when travelling, most of the time we used ’air bnb’ to find places to stay. And we always got really good reviews by our ’air bnb hosts’ (you can check that on my ’aird bnb’-account if you like🙂 ).

Owen studied history (of art) and product design and he now works for a company who builds passive houses (ecologically friendly houses).
And I work as a primary school teacher. It is my second year as a teacher now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Owen and I want to take a break from our ’working life’ and decided to take a year to travel in the continent: America. During that year we also like to do some work (also as volunteers) here.

We’d love to meet new people from different places to learn more about the continent, country, state, city, neighborhood where we stay. That’s why we’d like to use sites like: ’home exchange’, ’couchsurfing’, ’workaway’, ’air bnb’,... during our stay in America. This platforms give us the opportunity to really connect with locals and to live like locals. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three years ago we did a hiking tour on the GR 20 in Corse (island of France). That was super nice and adventurous!
Last year we used 'Interrail' (a train ticket that you can use in all countries of Europe) to explore different countries and places in Europe. Last year we also did a hiking tour in Italy (Dolomites) and in Montenegro, that were so beautifull! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

We'd love to learn a lot about the people we're staying with and their lifestyle, their neigborhood, their culture, ...

Owen can teach you a lot about building passive houses (ecologically friendly houses), making kombucha, fermentating food, brewing real nice Chinese and Japanese tea, taking care of plants, ...
And I can teach you about the Belgium culture, food, school system, ... :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Owen and I can share our skills and interests with our host(s).

I am really good with children. So I can take care of children or pets if that is necessary.
Owen is very handy with computers. He can also fix a lot of things. :) Actually he is an overall handy person!

We can cook, do groceries, help in the garden, help renovating a house, baby-sit the children, ...
