Hi, I am Martijn and I am originally from the Netherlands. I would describe myself as a calm, passionate and friendly person with an unlimited supply of curiosity. I am a good listener, but I also have many good stories to tell. It seems I have a lot in common with what people call an 'ambivert'.

Topics of my interest are fitness, business, psychology, philosophy, investing and travelling. What I hear from my friends is that I tend to (over)think a lot. Activities that I like are: fitness, photography, writing, exploring new places, hiking in nature or just going for talk/beer/coffee and explore interesting topics about life, philosophy, space etc.

I have lived in the Czech Republic for two years and now I am back in Gouda. Before that time I lived just under the highest mountain in the Czech Republic: Snezka. Back then I worked for a hotel, and since 2019 I am a freelance copywriter. I do all my work from home, which gives me a lot of freedom to plan my own days and travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think couchsurfers are in general really open people, thrustworthy and interesting. Because I consider myself like this as well, I subscribed myself 3 years ago and never had any regrets. I haven't surfed that much yet, but the experiences that I had so far were unforgettable.

For now I am looking for people to hangout with, since I don't have space to host people for the night.

My mind is just going in all directions all the time, so staying focused is a real challenge for me. So after reading the same page for 4 times, I decided that I should probably stick with writing instead of reading. I did manage to finish some good books though. They might give you an idea of what I'm interested in.

I like many movies and series very much. I like documentaries about wildlife and nature, thrillers, action movies and the occasional comedy. Series I have enjoyed were HIMYM, Friends, Arrow, Outlander, Breaking Bad, The 100.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Leaving the Netherlands in 2017 for a 'short term' job in the Czech Republic. Ending up having a relationship with a foreign girl, living in Prague and working here as a freelance writer.

Also my 5 months backpacking trip through New-Zealand was amazing.
