About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Eat more cheese.

ABOUT ME

Grew up in Amsterdam with a passion for travelling and learning stuff (= everything) about the world, its people and its cultures (especially gastronomy!). Have travelled 5 continents, but feel the need to see and experience much, much more. I would call myself a relaxed person, who doesn't like to stress, fret or worry too much and takes things as they come.
Have I mentioned I love to eat?

PHILOSOPHY

"To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem."

- Douglas Adams in some book.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before the invention of couchsurfing, I surfed the couches of people I met in real-life, to be able to afford holidays... So far, I've only had limited online couchsurfing experiences, but they were all great!

Interests

A short summary should include: music, food, travelling, basketball, food, football (soccer), archaeology, indiana jones, food, the civilization video game series.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really suck at remembering what movies and books I liked. Movies I remember liking: 99 francs, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Midnight in Paris, Intouchables, Another Year, Dumb and Dumber (and Lost, The Wire, The Office and 30 Rock, though they're not movies).

Books I enjoyed: everything by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Stephen Fry, Douglas Adams, Frederic Beigbeder and lots more

Music: Mainly punk and hardcore, but also salsa, reggae, metal, contemporary African music, and rap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't want to rank all the amazing things I've had the luck to have seen/done while travelling but highlights include:
Spending a month atop a 4.000 meter mountain in Peru, without running water or electricity,
Two months of living in the Amazon,
Finding an unknown archaeological site in Mexico.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy talking, but like listening even better.
