ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Martijn (1986), currently I'm a PhD student at FOM Institute AMOLF in Amsterdam, trying to unravel how biological cells make decisions.
Concerning traveling: previously I traveled from North to South Vietnam, last holiday I went to mid-west America and stayed there on a ranch for two weeks in Colorado and traveled from there through Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Nevada. I've also visited a load of European countries, also some in East Europe (with Transnistria, a Russian-occupied part of Moldova, and Tsjernobyl as pecular highlights), and also went abroad to New York.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't get your mind stuck in patterns. Be open-minded.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted before, but current living situation doesn't allow for hosting unfortunately ..
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I received a few people in Nijmegen, and I've also done some couch-surfing in New York. I also had someone from south-Korea and people from the US visit Amsterdam. Couchsurfing is a really cool way to experience how people live.

Music, Movies, and Books
TV
Too much to mention. Some things I like, probably doing injustice to what I really like: Pulp Fiction, Casablanca, Fight Club, Futurama, La meglio gioventù.
BOOKS
Martijn: Mostly Dutch books ("de droogte", "de ontdekking van de hemel", "het zijn net mensen", "Tikkop"), also Orwell's 1984 for example. I'm now reading The Shadow of the Wind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Tsjernobyl.
